The character of Robin Hood is one of the oldest and most well-known heroes from literature. Over time, there have been different interpretations of his story on the big screen. Robin Hood has been a star of the screen since the early 1900s. However, it’s been a while since the legendary archer appeared in a movie, as he makes his return this year. This time, Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) is wielding the bow and arrow. He bands together with Jamie Foxx’s Little John to take on the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham, played by Hollywood’s go-to villain, Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One, Ready Player One).
Otto Bathurst will direct this film. He’s best known for Peaky Blinders and the ‘National Anthem’ episode of Black Mirror. Yep, that’s the one with the Prime Minister and the pig. This will be his feature directorial debut.
The trailer consists of mostly action sequences, but it does touch upon the story a little bit. The movie promises action and romance, with Eve Hewson playing Robin’s love interest. Robin Hood is a story plenty are familiar with, so it could be the action that helps set this take apart from the others.
Robin Hood opens in cinemas on November 22, 2018.
