Christian Bale is undoubtedly as method as method can ever get and he is also someone who is goddamn committed in not just playing the part but looking the part. The Oscar winning actor has seen plenty of success in Hollywood from big-budget blockbusters like The Dark Knight taking on the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman to smaller films like The Machinist. The actor bulked up a ton for the role of Batman and lost a s–t ton of weight for his role in the The Machinist (Like, he looked f–king skinny, and not even the cool skinny like Jimmy Page skinny).
He did it again for his role as George Bush’s Vice President Dick Cheney in Adam McKay’s Vice which saw him looking like a tub of lard. He’s probably gonna get that Oscar nomination but god, can Bale keep up with yo-yo dieting like this. Bale himself doesn’t think it’s the best thing for him to do.
Bale spoke with the Sunday Times‘ Culture magazine (via LAD Bible), revealing that he simply can’t keep doing this psychotic diet of his for films. He saying, “I can’t keep doing it. I really can’t. My mortality is staring me in the face”.
Poor rich bastard but yeah, it could f–k him up in the future but hell, that Oscar ain’t gonna coming from another blockbuster Bale. It’s not all bad though for a member of his family though, with Bale saying, “My son loved the tummy. He would just bounce up and down on that a lot and headbutt it and bounce off it and fall to the floor.”.
That’s sweet but Bale, you gotta take care of yourself buddy. It’s awesome yet wearisome but hell, this is a testament to Bale’s commitment as a performer and to be honest, you can’t help but respect that.
