LeBron James Reportedly In Talks To Produce Friday The 13th Reboot

Wouldn’t really be such a bad idea.

The new Halloween film is earning some serious praise with some calling it a return to form for the franchise. This flick looks like it might just bring the slasher genre back to the forefront but you gotta wonder if we’d see other classic horror/slasher flick make somewhat of a resurgence. It almost seems like everything has received some sort of reboot in regards to the horror/slasher genre. Reboots are often sure to make a cash and it looks like Friday the 13th might fall victim to that… again but this time with an interesting name attached to it.

It seems like basketball players are really into film these days with Kobe Bryant winning an Oscar this year for Best Animated Short for Dear Basketball and LeBron James getting himself involved in a Space Jam film following the footsteps of the legendary Michael Jordan. However, James may be going beyond that according to a new report that put his name alongside the Friday the 13th franchise.

Bloody Disgusting reports that James, together with his production company Springhill Entertainment is in talks with Vertigo Entertainment to produce a reboot of Friday the 13th. This news comes following Friday the 13th screenwriter Victor Miller’s acquisition of the U.S. rights to the franchise following a lengthy battle against the producers, Horror Inc.

We don’t really know how true this is so best not take this as fact just yet but if it is, it just might work. Vertigo Entertainment has been behind quite a number of good horror films including last year’s It and The Strangers but they’ve also been behind some duds like Shutter and The Boy.

We haven’t seen Jason Vorhees for some time with the last film being in 2009. but it wouldn’t be too bad to see him back. We are seeing a number of good horror films of late such as the aforementioned It, Halloween and Hereditary so maybe this is a good idea.
