Ant-Man 2 Director Believes The Wasp Should Lead An All-Female Avengers Film

It’s still probably going to someone with ‘captain’ as their title

Marvel Studios is going all out in attempting to diversify its range of cast and representations. Although, next year’s Captain Marvel would be Marvel’s first attempt at a female led superhero film, this year’s Ant-Man & The Wasp kinda already did that (granted, it could have been a better film).

Recently, Wasp actress Evangeline Lilly revealed that she wouldn’t be all that interested in a Wasp solo film due to her relationship with Ant-Man in the films (As in, they work together well). however, she did reveal that she would part from Scott temporarily if there were to be an all-female led Avengers film. Lilly herself revealed to Pop Buzz that Captain Marvel should lead the team but director of the Ant-Man films, Peyton Reed believes the Wasp would make a great leader.

Speaking to Huffington Post, Reed was asked on what the Wasp would be doing in an all female Avengers film and he believes that Wasp should take on the leading role. He said:

“I’d like her running things. I’d like to see her as the head of the all-female Avengers. I know Evangeline sort of said … maybe that would be “Captain Marvel,” because she does have the word “captain” in her name. But I think Hope van Dyne is a very decisive leader and a tactician, in addition to being a brilliant scientist. So she checks a lot of boxes in terms of who’s going to be running the Avengers, theoretically.”

We don’t know if this film is actually happening but it wouldn’t be a surprise if it does. Seems a little unnecessary and perhaps even a little Oceans’s 8-ish but if they can do something good with it, why not? As for the Wasp being leader…. it’ll still likely to be Captain Marvel since she’s probably the most experienced there and and yeah… ‘captain’.
