Ben Affleck Reunites With Matt Damon For Movie About McDonald’s Monopoly Scheme

The duo was tapped to create a movie about the scam that came to light only a few days ago.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are reuniting for a new true crime movie about a multi-million dollar scam that involved the McDonald’s Monopoly game. Fox is developing the nefarious story as a movie with Ben Affleck attached to direct and Matt Damon starring.

Jeff Maysh’s true-crime story details how ex-cop Jerome Paul Jacobson rigged the McDonald’s Monopoly game in 2001, allegedly stealing millions of dollars. Damon and Affleck will produce through their Pearl Street company. The Deadpool writing team of Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese has been hired to write the script.

On Saturday, unveiled the story of a former policeman who ran a wild scheme that won him millions from the sweepstakes game was unveiled. The unbelievable saga took off, and it’ll soon be available on the big screen.

Jacobson and his nefarious associates illicitly claimed almost every prize McDonald’s Monopoly had to offer over the course of 12 years, from 1989 until the Federal Bureau of Investigation busted the ongoing heist in 2001. In total, the bogus winnings were valued at $24 million. Jacobson’s job as a security guard for the printing company that produced pieces for the game gave him access to the extremely rare Monopoly properties

Affleck and Damon have frequently collaborated together throughout their careers, probably most memorably with their 1997 Academy Award-winning drama Good Will Hunting which they wrote and starred in. They have also starred alongside one another in Dogma and Chasing Amy.
