Avengers: Infinity War offered us a lot. The events of the film were monumental in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Thanos as a villain was just awesome. A lot of s–t went down in Infinity War with half the universe being wiped out by the Mad Titan including a number of our heroes. The cliffhanger ending left fans and audiences wondering what would happen in the next installment. It truly is a wonder how Avengers 4 would top Infinity War and how they will conclude the events of said film along with whether or not it’ll be able to provide a satisfying one at that. It looks like it just might… or at least according to Benedict Cumberbatch.
Benedict Cumberbatch who plays Doctor Strange is apparently thrilled with the story pitch for Avengers 4. Speaking with The Star, Cumberbatch expressed much enthusiasm regarding the story that was pitched for the sequel. He said:
“I was thrilled. Thrilled, thrilled, thrilled and thrilled with the pitch for the second film. And thrilled by the ingenuity of the whole thing. And to be in an audience and experience that was something else. I’ve been part of Sherlock, with a very famous cliffhanger. It’s a very brave thing for movies that are that big, bold and colourful.”
Hopefully, it wouldn’t have an outcome like Sherlock since season 4 was pretty disappointing. However, Avengers 4 does look like it’s going to incorporate elements of time travel and alternate dimensions through the exploration of the Quantum Realm, so it’s definitely something that has the potential to deliver in a more cerebral level.
Cumberbatch obviously isn’t revealing much but if Sherlock Holmes himself is thrilled about ingenuity of it all, it seems like it might just deliver. However, it’s best to remain cautious about this as it’s pretty obvious that Cumberbatch wouldn’t slam the hand that feeds him. Although Avengers 4 would likely deliver on many levels with indication of it emphasizing the OG cast of The Avengers, the MCU isn’t exactly Inception so best not expect a mind bending sci-fi epic but it’s safe to say that we can expect an epic nonetheless.
