Spoilers (sorta) ahead for Avengers: Infinity War
Although much of the events of Avengers: Infinity War may seem permanent at the time of viewing, some of them aren’t what they seem. It was confirmed that there would be a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 despite the events of Infinity War. Not much has been said on the story or how they are going to bring it all together following the events of Infinity War but it seems that the film will begin shooting in January 2019 according to Star-Lord himself, Chris Pratt.
In an interview with MTV to promote his latest film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Pratt says he’ll be back to reprise his role as Star-Lord and that filming will begin in the new year. He states:
“I’m slated to film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in January, so we don’t know yet, time-wise, where that lines up. I’m hoping it’s not the last time you’ll see me [in the Marvel Cinematic Universe], but I can’t be sure.”
Chris Pratt is no doubt an integral part of the Guardians films. His introduction in the original Guardians of the Galaxy was iconic and is perhaps one of the best character introductions in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There’s a chance that things would change but for now, let’s hope not.
One thing we do know is that this is James Gunn’s ship as he is slated to return to the director’s chair and it just wouldn’t be the same without him helming it. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 may have not been as great as the original but it was still a fun ride nonetheless. It will most likely be the last film in the Guardians series and chances are it’ll be looking for a 2020 release date. Even with all of this, it’s pretty telling that things are not going to be the same after Avengers 4.
