Malaysia’s First Drive-In Cinema to Launch This Month?

After closing its doors on March 18th due to the Movement Control Order, Malaysian cinemas were finally allowed to operate again from the 1st of July. Rejoice! The downside is, strict physical distancing must be maintained at all times in theatres, which means patrons aren’t allowed to sit beside one another, even if they’re your family, friends or loved ones that live together in the same house. This SOP is understandable, as Malaysia continues its fight with the COVID-19 pandemic, but there’s no denying that it will make the theatrical experience slightly less fun.

However, Malaysians could be treated to an entirely new theatrical experience altogether. According to Rojak Daily, M-Junction, in collaboration with TwoSpicy Entertainment Live (Dinner in the Sky, Plane in the City) will be launching a drive-in cinema.

There aren’t much information available as of this moment, but a representative did tell Rojak Daily that they’re tentatively looking at the 15th of July for the launch, and that the cinema will be located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The rep also mentioned that they will be playing a mixture of both old and new movies, local and international.
