Crossroads: One Two Jaga producer Bront Palarae is now the ambassador of the Malaysian International Film Festival (MIFFEST) and Malaysian Golden Global Awards (MGGA). The Malaysian born actor has seen some considerable acclaim in the Malaysian film circuit having garnered multiple awards for films such as Terbaik Dari Langit and Ola Bola. The 3rd MIFFEST and MGGA will commence in July with Palarae serving as the new ambassador alongside current ambassador and international award winning actress Angelica Lee who has starred in various Asian films such as 20 30 40 and The Eye.
The festival’s official Instagram account shared the news. Check it out below:
Palarae, 41 seems pretty excited about his role as the new ambassador of the film festival and it looks like he is going to have a lot to say to international folks about our boys and girls at home. He told Harian Metro:
“I’ve attended several film festivals outside of Malaysia, and every time I was asked if Malaysia has any international level festival, I’ll feel ashamed. But now, it seems that I will have my answers,”
The MIFFEST was established in 2016 and showcases various films from around the world in Malaysia while the MGGA is an awards ceremony that recognizes filmmakers from across the globe for their achievements in the art-form. It is not only a great way to watch new films but also a great way for local filmmakers to show their stuff as Bront Palarae further explains:
“Such events can become a platform for local filmmakers to introduce and promote their works not only to local audience but also overseas. I am very proud that these programmes existed,”
Bront Palarae is perfect to be the face of MIFFEST and MGGA as the man has been doing some pretty cool work lately with more on the way. You’ll be able to see Palarae in action soon as he will star in Zahir Omar’s upcoming crime drama Fly By Night which has been earning some good critical reception so far from international festival circuits.
MIFFEST 2019 will be held from the 14th of July to the 19th of July 2019 and the MGGA will be held at the Istana Budaya on the 20th of July.
