Prepare yourselves for a “185-minute genre orgy.” That’s how Netflix is referring to its new animated anthology series Love Death & Robots. Directors David Fincher and Deadpool‘s Tim Miller have teamed up for an adult animated anthology series that looks gloriously deranged. The first trailer for the animated anthology series for adults is for “mature, messed-up” audiences only. Check out the trailer below.
Entitled Love Death, & Robots and described in a press release as a “Sentient Dairy Products, Rogue Werewolf Soldiers, Robots Gone Wild, Sexy Cyborgs, Alien Spiders And Blood-thirsty Demons From Hell Converge In An 185-minute Genre Orgy Of Stories,” the anthology series contains 18 separate animated short films, each produced in a different visual style. Each of the 18 episodes will run anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes.
According to the official logline, Love Death & Robots covers a variety of adult topics, including racism, government, war, free will, and human nature. It was inspired by the “eclectic and provocative comic book material from the 1970s,” and spans the science-fiction, fantasy, horror and comedy genres.
The series is the latest addition to a growing Netflix animation slate that runs a wide gamut. This new project comes as Fincher is gearing up for Season 2 of his serial killer psychology drama Mindhunter.
The series is executive produced by Jennifer Miller and Josh Donen, and it hits Netflix on March 15, 2019.
