All Female Fast & Furious Spinoff is Actually Happening; Script by Marvel Writers

Now this gets us all sorts of excited!

Look, I think most of us are in agreement that the Fast & Furious franchise started to lose its excitement all over again after the 6th movie, unless you’re one of those people who enjoyed watching a submarine chase a bunch of cars and The Rock pushing a missile away with his bare hands and if so then more power to you. A lot of us wanted to punch ourselves in the face repeatedly. Having said that, we can’t help but get excited for the new spinoff movies that Universal has announced, including the all-female one.

And thanks to Vin Diesel’s latest Instagram post, it looks like the female-led Fast & Furious movie (reported to feature all the major female characters from the franchise) just took a major step forward. Diesel posted a picture of himself with his sister — who’s one of the producers of the franchise — Samantha Vincent and announced in the caption that three female writers have joined the family to pen the spinoff. The three writers, Nicole Perlman, Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet will most likely be working together in the writer’s room during the scripting process.

Nicole Perlman is the most exciting addition to the team, as she has been working under the Marvel Cinematic Universe banner for a while now. She previously co-penned the screenplay of Guardians of the Galaxy with James Gunn, which speaks volumes about her comedic sensibilities and attention to detail when it comes to character writing. On top of that, she also provided story ideas for the upcoming Captain Marvel and worked on the treatment for the currently in pre-production, Black Widow solo film. Outside of Marvel, Perlman has also worked on the screenplay of Pokemon: Detective Pikachu together with Rob Letterman, another film that looks like its got loads of heart and personality.

Geneva Robertson-Dworet is also an intriguing addition, having previously worked on the screenplay of Tomb Raider (the Alicia Vikander one). On top of that, she’s one of the three co-writers of Captain Marvel. We only need to wait a couple of months more to see if Marvel once again delivers the goods. If it does, then the idea of a Robertson-Dworet written Fast & Furious movie just got more interesting.

But we mustn’t ignore Lindsey Beer, either. Beer penned the screenplay of the Netflix Sierra Burgess Is A Loser, which was received rather decently by critics. Though, seeing as how that’s her debut film, we don’t really have that much to go on just yet. However, she is currently attached to a bunch of films that are still in its pre-production/announced stages, including the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot.
