Roma Trailer: New Movie From Gravity Director Looks Like A Masterpiece

Cuaron is back and it looks like we can expect another Oscar for him.

The trailer for Academy Award winner Alfonso Cuaron’s latest film Roma dropped not too long ago and it looks like it’s going to be a masterpiece. The director of acclaimed films such as Children of Men, Gravity and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban bring us something that needs to be noticed by fans of cinema. Following the life of a middle class family in Mexico City in the early 1970s, the trailer has plenty of Italian neo-realism style to it that would make any film nerd s–t up and take notice.

The predominantly Spanish language film is already seeing a ton of love from critics with a current rating of 99% on Rotten Tomatoes and that’s not a big surprise as the trailer is definitely promising something fantastic that would no doubt be an Oscar contender. Roma will see a small theatrical release in November but will be available on Netflix on December 14th this year.

The trailer doesn’t reveal much on the plot of Roma but it looks like there’s going to be more of a story than an actual plot. Yes, there’s a difference. I’m not sure if it’s the black and white cinematography, Cuaron’s signature long takes, the setting or even Pink Floyd’s “The Great Gig in the Sky”, but something about this really screams masterpiece and you can’t help but get goosebumps watching it.

This is definitely going to be something to take note of and it’s going to be released on Netflix so it’s going to be accessible to a pretty wide audience. Netflix films have been hit or miss but this one looks like it’ll be one hell of a hit (at least in terms of quality). With the trailer and Cuaron’s name attached to it, Roma looks like it’s going to deliver something amazing.

Roma is scheduled to be released on Netflix on December 14, 2018
