The Conjuring franchise continues to grow. A trailer for the next Conjuring spinoff film, The Nun, has just been released by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film focuses on the “demon nun” that haunted audiences since The Conjuring 2. Now, as with the Annabelle sub-franchise, we will go back in time to learn the origins of the demonic holy woman.
The Nun is set before the events of The Conjuring and follows the story of a Romanian abbey where a young nun has recently committed suicide. The Vatican sends a priest and a novitiate to investigate. They soon uncover unholy secrets as they confront an evil force in the form of the demonic nun featured in The Conjuring 2. The cloistered abbey soon becomes a battlefield between the living and the damned.
The Nun is the fifth film in The Conjuring universe, following the 2013 original, its 2016 sequel and a pair of spin-off films about a haunted doll, 2014’s Annabelle and 2017’s Annabelle: Creation. Jonas Bloquet, Charlotte Hope, Ingrid Bisu and Bonnie Aarons co-star in the film. The film is directed by Corin Hardy and produced by James Wan and Peter Safran and it is set before the Annabelle franchise.
The Nun will release on September 7.
