There are a lot of films to look forward to this year including Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman which is set to be released on Netflix in October 2019. The legendary filmmaker known for crafting masterpieces such as Taxi Driver, Goodfellas and The Wolf of Wall Street is back with another crime drama with a cast that would be a wet dream for any cinema lover. The film stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, Harvey Keitel, Jesse Plemmons, Bobby Cannavale, Ray Romano and Anna Paquin.
Based on the book I Heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brandt, the film is no doubt something widely anticipated. The budget is also pretty high going up to nearly $200 million which is a high sum for a crime drama. This is due to the film’s use of digital de-ageing effects as the plot would see these old timers playing younger versions of their characters during a significant portion of the film. It’s unsure when we will see a trailer for The Irishman but it at least we have a little of the film’s dialogue to work with thanks to the film’s announcement trailer. Check it out below:
We get to hear a little bit of dialogue from the part of De Niro’s Frank Sheeran and Pacino’s Jimmy Hoffa but sadly, we ain’t getting much footage. We’re not certain if this dialogue will even be used in the film but it’s something. As for the footage (or should I say lack thereof), Scorsese and team are probably working on tweaking the digital effects and with the amount of money put into this along with the names attached, it needs to look great.
Scorsese is no stranger to visual effects having directed Hugo which was pretty effects heavy so he knows what he’s doing. It’s Scorsese after all so we can expect The Irishman to be another classic. Let’s hope we get a trailer sometime soon.
