A Marlon Brando biopic titled Waltzing with Brando is on the way and we now have an actor to play one of Hollywood’s most iconic figures. The late Marlon Brando is regarded as one of the greatest actors of all time and that’s no surprise as the man is one versatile being having embodied some of the most popular characters on screen. From Terry Malloy in On the Waterfront to possibly his most popular role, Vito Corleone in The Godfather, the Oscar winning actor has been both a lauded and a controversial figure in Hollywood. Now, we’re going to see an interesting period of his life on screen with Titanic actor Billy Zane set to take on Brando.
According to Variety, Zane will play Brando in Waltzing with Brando based on the memoir by architect Bernard Judge. Set primarily between 1969 to 1974, the memoir tells the story of how Brando recruited Judge, a Los Angeles architect in an attempt to convince him build the world’s first ecologically perfect retreat on a tiny and uninhabited Tahitian island. The film will be directed by Bill Fishman who is also penning the script and will reunite with Zane after the two worked together on 1993’s Posse. Additional casting is underway including the role of Judge.
Well, Zane has the Brando look to him but he hasn’t really been in the spotlight of late but the guy is a good actor and his role in Titanic really made me hate rich people so I’m sure he’d do the role justice. Waltzing with Brando is going to be directed by a pretty interesting filmmaker with the likes of Fishman whose films haven’t really been something… like this. He’s made some cool music videos though. Zane will be tackling one of the greatest actors ever so he has to nail this role. No pressure Zane.
