There is no doubt plenty of excitement for the eighth and final season of HBO’s acclaimed fantasy series Game of Thrones. Excitement is probably an understatement to be honest considering the series’ large following and with everything coming to an end this April, we sure are looking for more info on the season before its premiere. We may have finally gotten a first look at the upcoming season 8 however thanks to the recent Golden Globes.
HBO has always been doing great in providing great shows and last year was no exception evidenced by the number of nominations garnered by the network during the 76th Golden Globe Awards. Along with celebrating how great 2018 was for them, the network also provided a little tease as to what we can expect from them in 2019.
HBO debuted a preview clip of their 2019 lineup during the Globes highlighting the various series set to be released this year- some new and some not-so-new. Among the series featured in the promo are True Detective season 3, Veep, the upcoming Watchmen and of course, Game of Thrones season 8. They didn’t just place the fonts up however as they provided us with a first look at some of these series including Watchmen and Thrones and they’re pretty damn awesome.
The Game of Thrones footage is especially awesome despite being brief as we not only see our characters on screen but we see them interacting (I sound like a nerd, I know). The brief footage shows Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) arriving in Winterfell for the very first time (Oh my God!!). She is accompanied by Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) as they meet Sansa Stark (Oh my Goodd!!) who hands of control of the land to the Mother of Dragons (Oh my f–king god!!!!).
Yeah, that apparently happened and god knows what else we’re going to see when a full trailer drops and when the season premieres… that’s gonna be something. HBO is going to have another good year it seems and although we know it would be the final season for Game of Thrones, there’s still more on the way including a prequel.
