Black Mirror Creator Promises More Optimistic Episodes In The Future

That’ll be interesting to see.

If you’re looking for a family friendly fun time, Black Mirror is definitely not the show you’re looking for. The anthology series is amazing however offering a dark look at technological advancements in a sci-fi dystopian setting. The series has managed to win legions of fans throughout its run along with plenty of big name stars headlining various episodes. The show is pushing the envelope a further with their recent interactive film Bandersnatch but the series’ fifth season is really what we’re waiting for.

Black Mirror has never really been the most optimistic show out there with the ending of nearly every episode leaving audiences satisfied yet f–ked as to what they’ve just experience (In a good way that is). However, with a fifth season likely to grace our screens in late 2019, it seems that we can expect some more optimistic Black Mirror episodes in the future.

Black Mirror hasn’t been entirely depressing as season 3’s ‘San Junipero‘ was relatively optimistic and we can expect more episodes like that. Series creator Charlie Brooker along with executive producer Annabel Jones spoke with The New York Times discussed their recently released Bandersnatch in regards to its nature and limits of interactivity. They also discussed the future of the series highlighting that things would be a little different moving forward. Brooker said:

“We’re doing more optimistic episodes and stories, rather than just dystopian and negative ones, we want to keep the show interesting for us.”

It would be cool to see them try different things instead of just trying to be dark for the sake of being dark. It wouldn’t be an entirely new approach for the series and fans might just dig it since ‘San Junipero‘ and even the more optimistic ‘USS Callister‘ earned some significant praise but how far would they go with this new approach? We’ll find out soon enough.
