Does anyone remember that forgettable Angry Birds Movie… movie? It doesn’t matter anyway cause there’s going to be an Angry Birds Movie 2. Based of a bloody mobile game, the first film made over $350 million at the box-office against a budget of $73 million which was sadly enough to greenlight a sequel. The first film’s critical reception was mixed proving yet again that video games should not be adapted by crappy filmmakers.
The first film starred Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Bill Hader and a bunch of other funny people in this not-so-funny film. The Angry Birds Movie 2 will see some of these names back but will also feature some new voices to the cast including a voice that’s familiar to anyone who follows the pop charts.
Variety reports that The Angry Birds Movie 2 has added rapper Nicki Minaj to its cast. It is unknown what role Minaj would be playing but it’s an Angry Birds film so it probably wouldn’t matter in years to come. Minaj isn’t really new to acting having been in films such as The Other Woman and Barbershop: The Next Cut. She has also provided her voice to Ice Age: Continental Drift so voicing characters in forgettable animated films isn’t something new to her.
I know it sounds like I’m taking a dump on this sequel before it’s even out…that’s cause I am. Nobody really asked for an Angry Birds film let alone a sequel. Perhaps, I’m just a salty cynic when it comes to s–t like this but it’s pretty certain that The Angry Birds Movie 2 would deliver an outcome similar to its predecessor. Well, the kids would still probably be in to it, so what the hell?
