Keanu Reeves is undoubtedly a big name in the action circuit of the film industry and now perhaps more than ever thanks to the John Wick films. We’ve seen him taking on some pretty cool roles in the past including the iconic Neo from The Matrix films or even more comedic roles like Ted “Theodore” Logan from the Bill & Ted films. However, Reeves has never really played a major Marvel or DC character unless you count John Constantine from the divisive Constantine film back in 2005 which let’s be honest, no one really counts.
However, it would be interesting to see how Reeves handles a major comic book character today considering how big the genre of film has become in recent years. Some major characters seem to be kinda open to have another actor take on the role such as Wolverine and perhaps Batman so maybe Reeves could fill up his already packed resume with one of these. Although this is just wishful thinking, Reeves himself has an opinion on that matter.
In an interview with Screen Geek while promoting his new film Replicas, Reeves was asked a question to which he provided an answer to a few years ago revealing an interest to take on Wolverine or Batman. However, those roles were already cast before but given how those roles are kinda open, Reeves was pressed on which role he would rather play. He said, “Of the two, I’d love to play Wolverine.”.
With how Logan ended, we probably won’t see Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine anytime soon and with how Matt Reeves’ Batman is coming up… actually, information’s pretty scarce on that so it’s really hard to say. Anyway, Reeves could be a great addition to the superhero genre of film but then again, he has played one but no one really cares about that film these days. It would be interesting to see what Reeves brings to the table but for now, we have John Wick.
