With The Russo Brothers stating that Avengers: Infinity War will be somewhat of a culmination of the previous Marvel films, one thing is clear: Some of the characters will die. With many of the actors’ contracts coming to an end, including Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth, deaths seem to be imminent.

That said, The Russo Brothers have stated that if Robert Downey Jr’s Iron-Man does bite the dust, his character isn’t likely to be recast. In an interview with The Hindustan Times, Joe Russo had this to say:
“There is nobody who can take over Iron Man from Robert. I don’t think the audience would accept that”
Russo went on to mention that Robert Downey Jr. would also most likely want to do other things in his career and not just play Tony Stark/Iron Man for the rest of his life.
“He can’t play the character forever. I am sure there are lots of things he wants to do in his career”
Iron-Man is undoubtedly a fan favorite in the MCU having captured the hearts of moviegoers with his wit and charm in 2008 with the first installment of the titular character, kicking of the juggernaut franchise.
Despite all of this, fans and moviegoers alike would likely agree that Downey Jr. would be missed if his character were to be axed in the upcoming film, having left an incredible mark on the MCU.
