The race to that Best Picture Oscar nomination for Black Panther is real with the superhero flick wrapping up a number of big nominations of late. It’s awards season time and all the pretentious film nerds are coming out to play and it looks like the MCU film is definitely going to part of the discussion just as much as the indie dramas they’re rooting for. With the film getting a nomination at the Golden Globes for Best Drama along with a Best Picture nomination at the Critics’ Choice Awards, it looks like the ball’s still rolling as the film has been nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the 25th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards.
Ryan Coogler’s film which can be regarded as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most acclaimed film is getting some major support to bag a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars and it looks like it may happen. That wasn’t the only nomination Black Panther managed to grab at the SAG Awards with the other being Outstanding Action Performance By A Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture but that one’s bound to happen. It’s the other one that should get some attention and although, it’s still early to tell if the Academy may share the same sentiment, its chances are promising. Looks like there’s gonna be some competition this time around but to be honest Black Panther isn’t likely gonna win but it is still a pretty big deal for a comic book flick. Whatever it is, we can expect to hear more of the film moving forward with awards season.
