Ed Sheeran In Talks To Star In Danny Boyle’s Musical Comedy

Hit artist seeks to continue his transition onto the silver screen.

British pop star, Ed Sheeran is poised to make a more significant jump into the acting world, and the project couldn’t be more perfect. Following bit parts in both Game of Thrones and Bridget Jones’ Baby, Sheeran is reportedly being considered for a role in Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle’s next film. Sheeran’s possible role in this as-yet-untitled movie is still unknown.

Deadline reports that Boyle, who will be directing the latest James Bond movie, Bond 25, has managed to keep the plot of this musical a closely guarded secret, although, there are whispers claiming the movie is about a man who wakes up one day to find out that he’s the only person in the world who remembers the songs of The Beatles. The validity of these whispers are questionable at this point, but if true, it certainly makes for an intriguing plot. Lily James from Baby Driver is slated to star in this film alongside Himesh Patel from Eastenders and Saturday Night Live stalwart, Kate McKinnon.

Sheeran is keen to make his mark on the silver screen and complete his transition from pop music to film and television. He’s already made appearances on the Australian soap opera Home and Away and FX’s historical drama The Bastard Executioner, as well as his cameos on Game of Thrones and Bridget Jones’ Baby. His appearance on Game of Thrones, however, was poorly received by die-hards, who complained that his appearance tossed their suspension of disbelief right out the window. Sheeran will look to prove his naysayers wrong in his potential partnership with Danny Boyle, and he has the best possible platform to do so.
