The first single, ‘Marana Mass’, from Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Petta was released on Monday. Just hours before the song’s release, the makers had put out a sneak-peek of it’s making, creating buzz for the song. The song, within a day of its release, has received 5 million views on YouTube.
Musician Anirudh Ravichander composed this folksy number. Marana Mass, which means Deathly Swag, starts with Rajinikanth’s dialogue. The rough translation of the dialogue reads, “You will see this Kaali’s game from now on.” It is sung by SP Balasubrahmanyam and Ravichander, with lyrics penned by Vivek. The song video, a longer version of the recording, also reveals Rajini’s name in this film, Kaali.
Produced by Sun Pictures, Petta is directed by Karthik Subbaraj and is his first collaboration with the Superstar. The movie has an ensemble cast which includes stars like Simran, Trisha, Vijay Sethupathi, Bobby Simha among others. Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui also plays an important role in the movie.
Anirudh Ravichander is the music director while Tirru, who won the National award for Suriya’s 24, is the cinematographer for Petta.
Petta’s shoot was wrapped up in October and the film has been scheduled for release next year.
