You really got a wonder what’s going on over at Netflix in regards to their Marvel television series. Most of the shows on the streaming service under the Marvel banner have delivered pretty good to all-out amazing content but not all of them were hits. The cancellation of Iron Fist not too long ago was understandable as the series was not very well received but then Luke Cage was cancelled and fans were like ‘whaa?’. Now, things are taking a turn for the worse as Marvel’s best series and perhaps even one of Netflix’s best series Daredevil has been cancelled after three seasons.
According to Deadline, Netflix revealed that Daredevil will not be returning for a fourth season on Netflix but the existing seasons will still remain on the service adding that the character would live on in future projects for Marvel (Whatever that means). Cancelling the series only after a month of the third season’s launch, Netflix had this to add in a statement:
“We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note. We’re thankful to our partners at Marvel, showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years,”
It’s hard to really narrow down the factors that could have attributed to this as many could be at play here. For one, these shows are pretty expensive to make considering what we see on screen. There could also be some disagreements backstage as Netflix and Marvel TV have also been arguing over the season orders which could have led to the cancellation of Daredevil. Perhaps the most likely one would be creative differences as we’ve seen on timeless occasions including Netflix’s own Luke Cage.
Whatever it is, it still sucks and it looks like we only have Jessica Jones and The Punisher still alive unless you count The Defenders which you shouldn’t cause that was more of a miniseries. It is pretty sad though but with Disney’s streaming service on the way, there’s a chance that we may be able to get Daredevil back but that’s just wishful thinking at this point.
