It’s been a long time coming but Zombieland 2 is definitely happening and will likely see production underway very soon. The original post-apocalyptic horror comedy flick was a fun time delivering plenty of intense zombie filled violence and action along with a bundle of laughs. Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin will be returning along with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and director Ruben Fleischer.
Things are looking to fall in place with an expected October 2019 release which will see the film starting production in January next year. We can expect the same fun we got from the original Zombieland with many of the same names attached to it but it looks like Zombieland 2 has added a new face to the mix with the likes of Zoey Deutch.
Variety reports that Deutch has joined the cast of the long-awaited sequel. Character details for her role is unknown at the time but it can be speculated that she would likely be playing a character that would catch the eye of Eisenberg’s Columbus. Deutch has been in a number of films including this year’s Set it Up, Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some!! and Vampire Academy.
It would be cool to see some new faces in Zombieland 2 cause otherwise, the film could just re-thread the same steps the original did. That could be nice too as long as they deliver some great zombie action but it would still be pretty plain. However, writers Reese and Wernick have proven themselves to be promising names in the industry thanks to the Deadpool films so we can expect a promising script at the very least.
