The Lion King: Bojack Horseman’s Amy Sedaris To Voice New Character

A new character?.

We saw a trailer for Disney’s upcoming The Lion King recently and it really looks gorgeous. A remake of the 1994 film of the same name, the film seems capable of delivering a worthy remake to the animated classic. Directed by Jon Favreau who took on Iron-Man and Disney’s other jungle-themed remake The Jungle Book, the film has one hell of a star studded cast to voice the beloved characters from the original but that won’t be all it seems.

The Lion King stars Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce Knowles as Nala, James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Billy Eichner as Timon, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, John Kani as Rafiki, John Oliver as Zazu, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi, Florence Kasumba as Shenzi, Eric Andre as Azizi and Keegan-Michael Key as Kamari. All these names are pretty familiar so this is not much of a surprise but it looks like this remake will have a new character who wasn’t in the original with a talented actress behind it.

Variety reports that Amy Sedaris has joined the cast of The Lion King remake and will be voicing a brand new character who was not featured in the 1994 original. Sedaris will play an elephant shrew and no, it’s not a type of elephant but instead a tiny mammal native to Africa with long noses that resemble elephant trunks, hence the name.

Sedaris isn’t new to voice acting as she voices Princes Carolyn in the best show on Netflix, Bojack Horseman (Yeah, I said it). It’s unsure how much of this elephant shrew we’ll be seeing in the film but with Sedaris voicing it, it would probably be a good time. The Lion King better deliver something great with a cast like this.
