Monster Hunter: First Look At Milla Jovovich And Tony Jaa In Attire

This might actually be a good video game movie.

We’re going to see a Monster Hunter film by Resident Evil series (films not the games) director Paul W.S. Anderson. Now, that may not sound like an idea everyone would be on board with cause Anderson isn’t exactly the best Anderson when it comes to directors with similar last names. Starring Milla Jovovich, Tony Jaa, T.I., Ron Perlman, Meagan Good and Diego Boneta, the film is currently undergoing principal photography. We’ve seen a little bit shared on the film by star Jovovich but not really all that much as they didn’t really offer enough on how the characters and film would look. It looks like that’s changing however as we’re getting a much better look at Milla Jovovich and Tony Jaa in attire along with some weapons their wielding.

IGN reveals a photo featuring Milla Jovovich as the lead character Natalie Artemis and Tony Jaa as the hunter. From the picture, we see both characters running in what could obviously be a desert landscape donning attire akin to the acclaimed Monster Hunter video games. We see Jovovich with a pair of Dual Blades on her back, a carving knife on her thigh, and a Slinger on her left arm which looks pretty badass. Jaa on the other hand wields a Giant Jawblade, a type of Great Sword, as well as a Great Hunter’s Bow, definitely drawing a little more attention. Studio Screen Gems also released a synopsis for the film:

“Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, revolting attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man who has found a way to fight back.”

It’s safe to say that they look pretty badass here and there’s even a chance that we might actually get a good video game film after all these years. The plot synopsis is still pretty basic but complexity isn’t really something director Anderson is known for nor is it really the driving force of this film (As far as we know). If Monster Hunter is able to deliver something entertaining (and i don’t mean as in ‘so bad, it’s good’), it would be enough.
