Sigourney Weaver Is Already Busy Working On Avatar 4 And 5

Well, it’s about time.

We know there’s going to be a new Avatar film that will be released in three hundred years… Well, maybe a little less but it sure as hell is taking some time. James Cameron’s Avatar is the highest grossing film of all time as well as a critically acclaimed sci-fi film which saw an Oscar nomination for Best Picture. Unlike most massively successful films, an Avatar sequel didn’t just pop up a few years after but instead is still in development with an expected December 2020 release date.

Starring Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez and Sigourney Weaver, the first film followed a bunch of blue people in Pandora as they attempt to resist the greedy humans from colonizing their planet. A lot of people saw it, dug it and there’s more plans for the franchise with an Avatar 3, 4 and even 5. The sequel will see some of its main cast back including Weaver and apparently Weaver is already busy with the fourth and fifth film.

Speaking to THR about the upcoming Avatar sequels, the #MeToo movement and climate change, Weaver revealed that she’s already busy with Avatar 4 and 5 when asked about the possibility of reprising her role as Ellen Ripley in District 9 director Neill Blomkamp’s potential Alien 5. She said:

“We almost started to do it when I was working with James Cameron. But by the time we were put off by Fox, Neill had gotten so many jobs that we’d have to wait probably. I’m busy doing Avatar 4and 5. I love working with Neill and I think he’d do a terrific job, and James Cameron really thinks it’s a great idea, so you never know. Right now, I think Neill’s got like three projects going at once.”

It looks like Cameron has big plans for Avatar and it looks like we’ll be getting more consistent dates with the sequels for this franchise. With how the sequels are being hyped, we sure as hell hope it does well and that people would be open to revisiting the world after so long.
