Clueless Remake To Be Developed At Paramount

Another one.

It’s seems like almost everything is getting remade and rebooted lately and despite it being a long-lasting practice, it seems more relevant today than ever. Usually they’re horror films with the more recent being The Grudge series that will see one but there would be others including a Charlie’s Angels reboot and now, we have Clueless thrown in the mix.

The 1995 coming-of-age romantic comedy film was quite a hit among audiences to this day. The film follows Cher Horowitz played by Alicia Silverstone, the epitome of the “Valley Girl” as she, along with her friend Dione (Stacey Dash) gives new girl Tai (Brittany Murphy) a make-over which brings changes to her social and personal life. A modern retelling of Jane Austen’s Emma, Clueless resonated with audiences at the time and it will attempt to do the same today with a bloody remake.

Deadline reports that a Clueless remake is in the works at Paramount with Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip) producing and writer Marquita Robinson (Glow) penning the script. The film’s is still pretty early in development so there isn’t much known about how it’ll go down. It’s unsure if it’ll have a fresh take on the characters in modern day or just go back to the 90s but chances are, it’ll be a modern day retelling cause that would be the only thing that makes sense. It’s unsure if we’d even have new characters or if we’ll see some characters reprise their roles but we would find out once it’s developed further.

Clueless is a big fixture spawning an Iggy Azalea homage and also a television series, still remaining relevant despite not really being a cinematic landmark. This remake is already a dumb idea cause there are way too many remakes but that’s not gonna stop them from cashing in on popular culture which Hollywood has been doing for a long time.
