Netflix’s Iron Fist is probably the worst series in Marvel’s television series line-up which include the likes of mostly acclaimed crime dramas. Season 1 was met with mostly negative reviews with season 2 being considered “okay” and an improvement over the first one but that’s not enough to save the series. Netflix decided to pull the plug on the series and it wouldn’t be returning for a third season unlike Jessica Jones and Daredevil, the latter of which will be out pretty soon.
However, some fans seemed to still kinda dig it and are actually hoping for Netflix to bring the series back. Some fans of the show are urging Netflix and Marvel TV with a petition to bring the show back. Melissa Hodge (That’s the username at least) took to Change.org, coming up with a campaign urging the streaming company and Marvel to bring back Iron Fist for another season. She also came up with a statement providing several points in hopes of getting the companies to bring the show back. Read the statement below:
“Netflix has made a terrible decision in cancelling Iron Fist after 2 seasons . There are many fans of the character and the series and most people said that the second season was excellent . I think its unfair that Luke Cage , Jessica Jones and Daredevil get a third season and their shows get mixed reviews too yet Iron Fist gets the shaft . There is so much more potential and stories to be told and its not great fanservice to end the last season on a cliff hanger and not go along with it especially when the second season was more well recieved with critics and fans . So Netflix and Marvel please revise your decision and greenlight a third season for Iron Fist”
I appreciate the enthusiasm but those shows were acclaimed throughout its run (Well, most of them at least) with Luke Cage season 2 probably being the weakest.. Sure, they weren’t phenomenal but a Rotten Tomatoes score above 80 is usually a good thing. The Defenders is a different story.
Iron Fist is still an interesting character and it’s a shame the show couldn’t deliver that but it looks like it kinda resonated with some people. It’s unsure if this petition is even gonna work but they have 10,114 signature with an aim to get to 15,000 so maybe some pressure would get Netflix to reconsider. Probably not…
