NYCC 2018: Reactions For Footage Of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Offers Praise

Hopefully the rest of the film will deliver

Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse looks like it may very well be one of the most unique and exciting Spider-Man flicks we’ll see come to life. The animated film which follows Miles Morales (Spider-Man) who meets Peter Parker, another Spidey from another universe. Peter teaches Miles to become a better Spider-Man but they’re not the only Spider-People in the film as they are joined by other Spideys from different universes and it’s a pretty diverse group of Spideys.

Starring Shameik Moore, Hailee, Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez and Lily Tomlin, the film looks like it may be one of the best animated films of the year and the trailers are building up some serious anticipation. If that’s not enough, some lucky people got to see the first act (or so) of the film and let’s just say… they like what they saw.

The filmmakers and the cast members of the Spidey flick made an appearance at New York Comic-Con, where they screened the first 35 minutes of the film. Those in attendance where asked to promise not to spoil anything (the audience made a vow standing up, with their right hand raised). No one seemed to have spoiled anything (to my knowledge at least) but we got some non-spoiler reactions from some of the lucky ones on Twitter. Check them out below:

Seriously, I cannot rave enough about how COOL the animation in #SpiderVerse looks. It has the look and feel and texture of a comic book. It's literally like watching as a comic book comes to life.

And the Miles Morales/Spider-Man story is so good. So funny, so much heart. #NYCC

Sony just showed the first act and then some of Into The #SpiderVerse at #NYCC!

Holy crap! That was so much fun. Miles Morales is gonna be a stud! I can't wait to see so much more.

So many Marvel characters and Stan Lee!

Into the #SpiderVerse is a LIVING comic book film unlike anything we’ve seen. The first 35 minutes were amazing. This film will be VERY special. #NYCC https://t.co/y5n0TmWfUi

Guys. Guys. The first 35 minutes of into the #SpiderVerse are so good. SO GOOD. I can’t wait to see the rest. #NYCC

They just showed us the first 35 minutes of Into the Spider-Verse and, folks. This movie is the real fucking deal.

They showed us 35 minutes of the “Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse” animated movie and as someone with very limited knowledge of spiderlore, I can comfortably say: That was seriously fantastic. #SpiderVerse #NYCC

The first 35 minutes of #SpiderVerse we saw respects who Miles Morales is: a Afro-Latino kid from Brooklyn. Loves hip-hop, graffiti and his signature Jordans. As a native New Yorker, I grew up with a kid like Miles. And that matters #NYCC2018 pic.twitter.com/eNQ5Dm6VBG

Well, time to book those tickets. Granted, this doesn’t mean the whole film is going to be great but it sure is a good indication of it. Granted, we could have a great first act and the rest would be dumb but maybe we can just remain positive about this for now. The studio must have a lot of faith to be willing to play the first act (or so) of the film to the attendees so this could be something to really look forward to.
