The Nun may not be the horror film we all hoped for but that’s not going to stop The Conjuring franchise. The Conjuring franchise may have had its ups and downs but there’s more on the way since The Nun did really well at the box-office. We’re going to get an Annabelle 3 next year but that won’t be it, The Conjuring 3 is also on the way and we might be seeing the start of production next year.
Speaking to Cinemablend, producer Peter Safran revealed that production for the third Conjuring aims to begin in 2019. He revealed:
“It’s actually coming along great. David Lindsay Johnson is working on the screenplay, and I feel pretty confident they will have that one up and running next year.”
Safran produced all the Conjuring films so it looks like this would most likely be the case. Cinemablend also reports that the film’s timetable suggests a 2020 release date for the film which is pretty believable and would likely be the case if all goes well. Granted, he’s obviously “pretty confident” since in no way would he say otherwise but since he’s actually revealed it, it does some to be shaping up as a screenplay.
We don’t really know if James Wan would be directing this one as well, having been the man to start it all but it would be a big blow if he doesn’t. The adventures of Ed and Loraine Warren have been pretty fun so far but it is unsure what they’ll be tackling this time around but it would be interesting to see if they go beyond the haunted house premise.
