New contenders to direct Bond 25 are officially emerging. Producers are reportedly rushing to find a replacement for Danny Boyle who left the project over “creative differences”, leaving the fate of the project in the balance. Could S.J. Clarkson become the first female director to helm aStar Trek flick and a James Bond movie?
According to Variety, Clarkson is one of three filmmakers currently on the studio’s radar to replace Danny Boyle in the Bond 25 director’s chair. The others are American Animals helmer Bart Layton and White Boy Rick‘s Yan Damage, who was reportedly a strong contender before Boyle landed the job.
Clarkson was recently announced as the first female director in Star Trek history. She will oversee the fourth film in the rebooted franchise, which recently saw actors Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth drop out over salary disputes.
The clock is ticking for the producers, who are faced with the idea of moving the release date if the film isn’t in production by a certain point. It’s all just talk at this point, as Clarkson has yet to meet with the team, and other choices will no doubt be added to the list.
Bond 25 was scheduled to begin shooting in December, however, its delay was seemingly confirmed after it was announced Daniel Craig would head up a new independent drama from Star Wars director Rian Johnson. Despite this, it’s reported that the production shouldn’t interfere with what is expected to be Craig’s final outing.
