Time to take a break from Anglo-American mainstream cinema folks! cause the Japanese Film Festival is in town. The Japanese Film Festival 2018 (JFF2018) will serve up another exciting cross-section of Japan’s diverse film cultures. The festival is celebrating its 15th anniversary, to be held at selected Golden Screen Cinemas across the country.
JFF 2018 will be featuring 13 recent films across a variety of genres including dramas, suspense, documentaries and comedies. This provides a great opportunity for audiences to deepen their familiarity with and knowledge about Japanese culture and society. You’re probably going to see our generation’s Seven Samurai here so this could be a monumental moment in film.
Klang Valley folks will be first to catch this experience when the event kicks off on 6th September 2018 till 12th September 2018 at GSC Mid Valley, GSC NU Sentral, GSC Pavilion KL and GSC 1Utama. The festival will then make its way to Penang (13th -16th September), Kuching (4th October-7th October), Kota Kinabalu (4th October- 7th October) and for the first time this year, JFF will be making a stop at the southern part of Malaysia, Johor Bahru (20th September- 23rd September).
Since it’s the festival’s 15th Anniversary, the JFF would like to express their love to Malaysia for their support through the years by lining up two special programs: The Chihayafuru movie marathon (Part 1- Part 3) and special screenings of films shot in Japan by Malaysian filmmakers. Time to support our people, people!
