Game Of Thrones Prequel Series May Begin Filming In February 2019

Us Thrones fans need a fix soon.

HBO’s Game of Thrones is now a staple of popular culture and it wouldn’t be surprise if the world of Westeros would be explored long after the series ends its run. With the eight and final season of the acclaimed fantasy drama set to be released next year, a prequel may be underway pretty soon.

The prequel doesn’t really have an official title yet but it reportedly has a working title The Long Night, created by Jane Goldman. Set to take place thousands of years before the events of the original series, it is set to reveal plenty of secrets behind Westeros along with the creation of the White Walkers. It is tentatively expected to premiere in 2020 and it looks like filming may begin soon.

According to GWW, The Long Night may begin filming at Paint Hall/Titanic Studios in Belfast, Northern Ireland as soon as next February, the same location as the original series. Goldman who wrote the screenplay for films like X-Men: First Class and Kingsman: The Secret Service will serve as show-runner.

This is pretty awesome for Game of Thrones fans who’d want a lot more after its final season airs next year. There’s no doubt a s–t ton to explore in George R.R. Martin’s beloved world and this series would no doubt be one hell of a ride. It is still a little worrying to have more Westeros cause it does open the doors to the possibility of HBO milking the s–t out of this and making it a mega franchise but us Thrones fans need a fix. Perhaps, Goldman would do this one right.
