Superhero films are basically taking over the box-office (take that as you will) featuring a large array of cast from young blood to old-timers. With various senior actors and actresses taking on prominent roles in superhero films such as Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas in the Marvel Cinematic Universe along with Jeremy Irons and Willem Dafoe in the DC Extended Universe, it seems that these films are the go-to for these legends to find work.
Plenty of these actors are Oscar caliber performers but one actor that is surprisingly not involved would be Denzel Washington. Washington has proven to be a leading man in the action circuit with the Equalizer films along with being one hell of an actor in more dramatic fields and would definitely prove well in a superhero film. However, neither Marvel of DC has ever approached him on the matter.
Speaking to JOE.ie during promotional rounds for Equalizer 2, Washington revealed that he’s never been offered a part in a Marvel or DC flick but it does seem like he may be open to it. He said:
“I haven’t been approached… we’ll see what happens. Never say never,”
Call the press! Call the fans! Denzel Washington is open to being a part of the MCU.. or the DCEU. It does seem like he is open to the idea however and would be pretty cool with being a part of a superhero film. Truth be told, it does seem likely that it would be Black Panther if it were the case given Washington’s attachment to star Chadwick Boseman, having sponsored his education at Oxford University.
With these words, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Marvel or Warner Bros. gives him a call sometime. It would be nice to see more of Denzel on the big screen and the man still has star power to be a real feature in the MCU…. or the DCEU (Please be in Black Panther Denzel).
