Watch Avengers: Infinity War Test Footage Of Josh Brolin’s Thanos

It was shown to Marvel Studios executives prior to filming.

By now most of us have seen Josh Brolin’s portrayal of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, but there was a point where test footage needed to be shown to the Marvel Executives so they could get it approved to start filming.

Basing a film around a CGI character is a hard sell. Especially when that character is in most of the film and meant to carry levels of depth and detail. But someone still had to approve the look and sound of Josh Brolin’s Thanos before production could move ahead. Today we got a look at the test footage that was pitched to Marvel Studios before filming began on Avengers: Infinity War.

The footage has Thanos (Josh Brolin) having a conversation with an off-screen Loki as well as making a joke about having to “snap his neck” and how he’s “Just a messenger”. Obviously, Brolin had read the script by then and knew the unfortunate fate of one of the MCU’s most beloved characters to hate and decided to have a little fun while testing out the effects.

It’s also something to note that his voice is noticeably deeper than the version we got in the film. Before filming, it seems that they were going for a more sinister tone to The Mad Titan, but it was later changed by the time the film came out to be a more natural sounding voice and less heavily affected.
