Deadpool 2’s Colossus Actor Wants Crossover In New Mutants Film

This would be an interesting clash of genres.

Deadpool 2 was a pretty fun flick and it’s pretty clear that they’re going to carry on with this series with an X-Force film on the horizon. Aside from that Fox does have some neat line-ups in store for us such as X-Men: Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants film. New Mutants is a pretty interesting one as it’ll follow five young mutants discovering their abilities while held at a secret facility against their will. This includes Illyana Rasputin played by Anya Taylor-Joy who is the sister of Colossus, featured in the previous Deadpool films. However Colossus actor Stefan Kapicic wants to take this a little further, hoping that his character would be able to meet his sister.

In a video posted by Red Carpet News TV, Kapicic revealed his hopes for a crossover in The New Mutants. He was joined alongside Brianna Hildebrand who plays Negasonic Teenage Warhead in the Deadpool films. Kapicic said:

“I’m waiting for Colossus to meet his sister Illyana, and New Mutants comes out next year, so I’m hoping to see the Rasputins back together in a movie. I’m really counting on that.”

Illyana Rasputin AKA Magik possesses the ability of teleportation using special discs and will see her first live-action appearance in the film. What’s interesting about The New Mutants is that it’ll be very much a horror film or at least horror centered. This would be a departure from the X-Men series and it’ll be interesting to see how these two would interact especially due to their complicated relationship in the comics along with how the Deadpool films are more comedic in tone as opposed to the horror centered New Mutants.

This would be a welcomed crossover and this new direction in the X-Men series is definitely something to look forward to. The direction of Deadpool and Logan saw a departure from the previous X-Men films aside from it just being Rated-R. Along with the aforementioned comedic tone of Deadpool, the more dramatic take on Logan saw the film being hailed as one of the best comic book films of all time and even managed to gain a screenplay nomination at the Oscars. If this crossover does happen, we might see an emergence of two very different genres. Hopefully, New Mutants doesn’t mess anything up.
