Justice League: Henry Cavill On The Infamous Mustache Fiasco

He looks great in Fallout though.

It’s a wonder how a simple mustache can do so much for two major Hollywood Studios. In case some are unaware, Henry Cavill was required to grow a mustache for his role in Christopher McQuarrie’s upcoming Mission: Impossible – Fallout. The film was going through principal photography at the time when Justice League made the call for Cavill to return for re-shoots for the film as Clark Kent. Clearly, that didn’t help Justice League as Cavill was unable to shave his mustache due to his contract with Paramount. In the end, they digitally altered his upper lip in post-production for Justice League and it looked weird.

Fallout and McQuarrie cannot be blamed for this, they wanna make a good film just as much as Warner Bros. but  Cavill wishes things could have been a lot different. Speaking to Square Mile, Cavill discussed the facial hair fiasco that hurt the film a little bit. Cavill said, “Had I known the Justice League re-shoots were coming I’d have probably made a different choice.” Don’t worry Cavill, with or without the mustache, the film would have been bad anyway. The mustache just made things funnier.

Well, shooting for Fallout was underway and it wouldn’t make sense for that film to sacrifice its appearance in order to appease Warner Bros. but at least Fallout is getting some rave reviews surrounding it. Early reviews are indicating another great entry to the Mission: Impossible franchise and Cavill’s performance is earning praise. If it didn’t work out for Justice League, it sure looks like it did for this. It’s probably best to at least be able to enjoy one side to this story when Fallout is released later this month.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout is set to be released on July 27, 2018.
