The future of the so-called DC Extended Universe seems forever in flux, as Warner Bros. has strayed from Zack Snyder’s original five-movie plan and has lined up an ambitious slate that ranges from Birds of Prey to multiple Joker projects. But no plans have been announced for a sequel to the film that launched the DC Extended Universe, 2013’s Man of Steel.
Fans have long wondered about another solo outing for Henry Cavill’s Superman, and now the actor has provided a vague, if not entirely serious, update.
While doing press for his upcoming film, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Cavil was asked by Fandango’s Erik Davis about when Superman fans will get to see the actor don the iconic blue and red suit once again. Jokingly, Cavill offered a release window. When asked when the next Superman movie will go live, Cavill had this to say: “I can say this… it is highly likely we will see another Superman movie somewhere between 2019 and 2045.”

So, there you go. Cavill is confident the project will go live. However, it doesn’t seem the actor knows exactly when such a sequel will drop. If there are plans for a Man of Steel sequel, Cavill obviously can’t spill the beans before it’s officially announced.
While these rumors shouldn’t be taken as fact, they definitely indicate there’s interest in another Superman movie starring Cavill, definitely among fans and perhaps at Warner Bros. as well.
