Tom Holland’s portrayal as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War brought the character back to life after Sony’s disappointing take on Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield as the lead (He wasn’t bad in it, I know). Holland has proven to be one of the MCU’s most enthusiastic performers and is passionate about the characters and films. However, the kid does have a big mouth!
Holland has a tendency to spoil information regarding upcoming projects to the point where Benedict Cumberbatch had to accompany him during Infinity War‘s press tour. Marvel has no doubt been trying to keep a lid on things but of course, things don’t really go that way when your franchise is this big. Holland surprised fans when he revealed the title for the upcoming Spider-Man film which is Spider-Man: Far From Home. The question is-was this a f–k up on Holland’s part? Or all part of the plan?
Kevin Feige spoke to Birth.Movies.Death during the promotion of Ant-Man & The Wasp and was asked on the reveal of the Far From Home title. Feige said:
There are certain logistics of the way these movies are made that meant that title would potentially be leaked in some way because it was going out into the world in various forms. So Mr. Holland took it upon himself to leak it for us.
All part of the plan….. or just a simple ‘I don’t care’ from Feige. Or Holland was told to reveal it himself but yeah, Feige doesn’t really say much about it (no surprise there). Well, due to the secretive nature of Marvel Studios, much of the scenes are often shot without context for the performers involved so it’s clear that Marvel really wants their actors to keep their mouths shut when they have information on the films. The title isn’t too big of a reveal though and probably helped Marvel Studios (maybe, i don’t know)… Certainly helped reporters.
