Ant-Man & The Wasp looks like it’s going to explore Janet Van Dyne AKA the original Wasp much further. Played by Michelle Pfeiffer, Janet disappeared into the Quantum Realm as she attempted to deactivate a missile which in turn saved many but not herself. We saw this in a flashback scene in Ant-Man but there have been theories to her being seen again but in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it fashion. Some fan theories can be deemed as just wishful thinking in many cases but it looks like this one has truth to it.
According to Screen Rant, Marvel president Kevin Feige has confirmed during a junket press conference for Ant-Man & The Wasp, a theory pertaining to a brief glimpse of Janet near the end of the first film. In the psychedelic scene, Ant-Man shrinks down to the subatomic level in order to sabotage Yellow Jacket’s suit. As he does so, shrinking smaller and smaller, we are able to see a silhouette both in the light and reflected by Ant-Man’s helmet. It looks like that is none other than Janet Van Dyne herself. He said:
“In the first film it was, we got a glimpse of it for people who like to go through frame-by-frame, there was a little silhouette of Janet as the Wasp in there, which is a big story element in this movie.”
Well, it looks like Ant-Man & The Wasp has a lot to explore and it looks like it’s gonna be one hell of a ride. Aside from exploring Janet Van Dyne’s time in the Quantum Realm and how it may have affected her, the film looks like it would be able to set up Avengers 4 quite well. Early reviews are already indicating a positive response which isn’t really much of a surprise so this is something to check out once the film is released in like days.
