DC Universe Streaming Service To Include Titans, Swamp Thing and Doom Patrol Series

Might as well give the beta a try.

It looks like DC is going above and beyond with their entertainment moving beyond with the DC Universe streaming service that will allow you to stream DC related animated and live-action incarnations of DC characters. Not only that, they will also be providing a bunch of original series to the line-up and it looks like it’s going to be busy year for Warner Bros.

Set to debut later in the year, the service will bring be providing a bunch of new series developed by Warner Bros. Television according to Deadline. This includes Swamp Thing and Doom Patrol that are set to be released in 2019 along with Titans that would be released later this year. Various animated series will be developed by Warner Bros. Animation including season three of Young Justice: Outsiders and also a Harley Quinn series, both of which are set to debut in 2019.

This seems like pretty cool news that would definitely bring some people on board for the service. Much of these characters and stories are not explored in the more mainstream incarnations of DC properties. Granted, some of them are a little weird but are still intriguing enough to capture an audience. Titans‘ story, following Teen Titans (big surprise there) offers a much grittier take on the characters that would resonate a lot with modern audiences. Doom Patrol takes on DC’s most eccentric outcast led by Dr. Niles Caulder together with likes of Robotman, Elasti-Woman, Negative Man and Crazy Jane. Weird names but would definitely delve into some stranger DC territory. Swamp Thing is also pretty interesting fare following Abby Arcane investigating a mysterious swamp in Louisiana that would lead to some mystical and horrific adventures.

It’s unsure if these new shows would capture the uninitiated but long time fans would definitely have a lot to look forward to. If anything, the line up of pre-existing material is already pretty cool including classics like Batman: The Animated Series and Christopher Reeves’ Superman films. There is a chance to hop on board for the beta version this August that would allow audiences to test the waters and see the possibilities of this new platform. DCEU aside, it’s a good time to be a DC fan.
