Avengers: Infinity War is soaring sky high, becoming one of the four films to gross over $2 billion worldwide. The epic culmination of a decade long film franchise is now standing among the ranks of James’s Cameron’s Avatar, Titanic and also Star Wars: The Force Awakens placed at numbers #1, #2 and #3 on the list. The film already set a milestone becoming the fastest film to gross $1 billion at the world-wide box-office, doing so in 11 days.
Even with films like Deadpool 2 and Solo: A Star Wars Story being released shortly after, the film still stands tall along with receiving positive reception from fans and critics. It’s no surprise that the film has reached this status as its films have been fun and entertaining rides through the decade (for the most part, at least), satisfying fans and casual movie goers alike. Three other Marvel films have been included among the top 10 highest grossing films world-wide including the first Avengers, its sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron and the recent Black Panther, all of which grossed over 1$ billion at the box-office.
The film is also the only film released in the middle of the year or as in the industry would call it summer blockbuster season to reach the mark as Avatar, Titanic and The Force Awakens have all been released in December.
Marvel Studios has cemented its place in film industry. It’s a wonder how Avengers 4 would top this but it’s safe to say that it might reach the same heights, perhaps even surpassing it. It’s highly unclear if Infinity War could top the ranks as the highest-grossing film of all time but chances are pretty low in that regard with several other anticipated blockbusters on the way including the long awaited Incredibles 2 and Marvel’s own Ant Man & The Wasp. However, it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if Avengers 4 were to do so next year.
