One thing’s for certain, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse looks awesome. The latest trailer for the animated film showed us some epic visuals along with some humor that can be expected from the film. The biggest reveal however would be Spider-Gwen, voiced by Hailee Steinfeld. Following Miles Morales as Spider-Man meeting the other Spider-Man (Peter Parker) from a different universe as he attempts to juggle being a student and well, Spider-Man.
Spider-Gwen is basically Gwen Stacy who was bitten by a radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker in a different universe. Gwen protects Peter in this case and Peter then injects himself with a serum out of frustration on being mistreated by his classmates along with wanting to be more like Gwen which ends up turning him into the Lizard. Obviously, she isn’t really called Spider-Gwen in that universe but is known as Spider-Woman.
Steinfeld seems like a great fit and she sounds great in the trailer. Steinfeld has done relatively well in her career having been nominated for an Academy Award in the Coen Brothers’ True Grit along with a Golden Globe nominated role in The Edge of Seventeen. She will also star in the latest installment in the Transformers franchise, Bumblebee. She has also had a stellar music career with pop hits such as ‘Starving’ and ‘Let Me Go’.
The cast for Into the Spider-Verse looks great, the visuals look spellbinding and Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are behind it. If all goes well when it’s released in December, there could be more in store for the future.
