Star Wars Goes Sexy with Empire Strips Back Burlesque Shows

A strange yet interesting take on a piece of pop culture.

Get ready to feel the force with Star Wars themed burlesque show, Empire Strips Back makes its way to the US! Having done shows in Australia in 2011, this erotic new take on the classic space opera debuts in America on the 31st of May. The show is reported to have a twerking gender-swap Luke Skywalker, lightly armored (and covered) Stormtroopers and even one literally flaming hot Boba Fett dancer! The show will be making the rounds around California this June!

This is certainly an interesting take on the beloved property. We’ve seen comics, novels, TV shows, movies, video games and children’s books about the galaxy far, far away. So to see a strip tease version of the beloved franchise on display is definitely an interesting, if not exciting oddity. But not everyone is taking to this bold and cheeky parody too well. New Zealand has given a big “NOOOOOO” to the show coming to its local theaters anytime soon according to The Guardian

Star Wars has always been a huge part of pop culture ever since it first came out in 1977. But I’d never thought I would see the day when the once fearsome Stormtroopers of the Galactic Empire would be shaking their rears and gyrating in loose battle gear. It would be truly interesting if they a way to make Sidious look anything remotely sexy. So what do you think of this new, unique appropriation of sci-fi culture?
