Normally, actors have to spend their whole publicity tours being as complimentary about each other as possible, so it must be kind of refreshing to really let rip once in a while. With Deadpool 2 hitting theaters this week, Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin went on BBC Radio 1 in the UK to throw shade at one another.
We all know that Deadpool is an absolute savage. He’s thrown sharp-tongued jabs at just about everyone from David Beckham to Celine Dion. In a game of “Playground Insults”, where nothing was off the table, Ryan Reynolds had to defend his title as the Merc with the Mouth. Hosted by Scott Mills, the aim of the game is to make your opponent crack up by ripping them with dumb playground insults.
Over the course of the five-minute clip, Reynolds takes aim at everything from Brolin’s age to his dress sense, while Brolin discusses Reynold’s lack of talent and his “end of career” appearance in Green Lantern.
Here are some of Reynolds’ barbs:
“You are a muffin-snuggling pirate puncher.” “You’re so old you make dust look like a baby.” “You smell so bad I can hear it.” “You dress like an old George Hamilton.” “You’re so bad in Goonies that when you come on screen people don’t drink, they punch themselves in the d— for five straight minutes.” “What’s your favorite color? Mediocre?”
And here are some of Brolin’s:
“You’re tall, you’re handsome, you have the perfect amount of scruff, and you still have no talent.” “I was surprised during our sex scene how small your penis was and how big your balls were.” “So your whole life has been about bulls—ing people. Congratulations.”
Ultimately, Brolin declared himself as the winner because he’s a “general, primitive, insulting guy.” “I feel genuinely hurt,” Reynolds added.
Deadpool 2 is out in cinemas now.
