Ryan Reynolds Shares His Own #ThanosDemandsYourSilence Letter For Deadpool 2

Deadpool spoofs Infinity War’s spoiler plea.

The release of Deadpool 2 is just over a week away. 20th Century FOX has put out a new marketing tactic that is almost identical to the #ThanosDemandsYourSilence campaign of Avengers: Infinity War. Of course, like all of the promotions for Deadpool 2, this campaign has a humorous Deadpool twist.

Ryan Reynolds and the rest of his team have shared a spoiler warning letter of their own, inspired by Russo Brothers’ letter to ‘the greatest fans in the world’ before Avengers: Infinity War’s release. The new letter parodies the heartfelt letter by the director duo and asks the fans to not tell anyone that ‘Deadpool dies’ in the movie.

“We have embarked on the ‘Deadpool 2: This is Kind of Your Guys Fault’ World Tour. Almost everyone involved in this film has given Maximum Effort the past two years maintaining the highest level of super secrets, like how David Blaine catches bullets in his mouth. And the secret blend of 11 herbs and spices in Colonel Sanders’ delicious moustache,” it reads with Deadpool’s hand, animal paws, and a baby hand on the letter instead of Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet–covered mitt.

“Only a handful of people know the film’s true plot,” it goes on, directly quoting the Russos’ Infinity War plea. “One of them is not Ryan Reynolds. We’re asking that when you see Deadpool 2 you don’t say a fucking word about the fun shit in the movie. Cause it’d be super lame to spoil the fact that Deadpool dies in this one. Kidding. Not kidding. Kidding?” Then, in place of the threatening #ThanosDemandsYourSilence, he has a little trouble, winding up with #WadeWilsonDemandsYourSisterSorryStupidAutoCorrectSilence.

This post from Ryan Reynolds only gets us more excited about next week’s release. It helps set up the comedic and parodic elements of the sequel. It also tells us to anticipate an in-depth plot that has been kept secret since the movie began production.

The sequel is directed by David Leitch. It also features Josh Brolin, Morena Baccarin, Karan Soni, Zazie Beetz, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapicic and Leslie Uggams.

Deadpool 2 arrives in theaters on May 17.
