It’s 2018 and Celine Dion is collaborating with Deadpool for the music video of her latest single “Ashes”, which features in the soundtrack for Deadpool 2. The video features over the top dancing by our favourite fourth wall breaking hero. Donning heels and owning a catwalk, he makes a great dance partner for Celine Dion. The music video ends with a hilarious exchange between the both of them. Over the top hilarity aside, it’s actually a really good song by Celine Dion. The rest of the soundtrack should be as good. The video also features vignettes from the movie.
The pairing is a perfect mesh of both Dion’s reputation as a ballad queen and Deadpool’s sense of irony. At the end of the music video, Deadpool rises from the audience and cheers Dion on, before proceeding to ask her to do another take because it was “too good.”
“Why?” she asks.
“This is Deadpool 2, not Titanic,” Deadpool responded. “You’re at like an 11. We need to get you down to a five, five and a half tops. Just phone it in.”
Deadpool 2 is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. If it’s anywhere near as good as the original, we’re in for a treat. Directed by David Leitch, Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, as well as newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable, and Julian Dennison. Jack Kesy plays a villain widely thought to be Black Tom Cassidy.
The film hits theaters on May 17.
