Thor: Love and Thunder Will Be Romantic and Insane

Thor: Love and Thunder is perhaps one of the more exciting projects currently in development/pre-production at Marvel Studios. I think it’s pretty much the consensus at this point that Thor was the most boring of the Avengers in the first couple of MCU phases. While Chris Hemsworth always did his best, the first couple of Thor movies just didn’t give him enough room to spread his wings. But Taika Waititi completely flipped the script in 2017 by injecting a tremendous amount of personality and style into the franchise. The fast-paced and punk rock action-comedy, Thor: Ragnarok, is so much fun, many consider it to be one of the best films in the MCU to date.

So, naturally, all eyes are now on Thor: Love and Thunder, as Taika Waititi returns to the fold. And we’ve got some new updates. In an interview with BBC News, the New Zealander director said, “I think it’s going really good. We’ve been writing the script off and on for over a year and… actually, this week, doing another pass on it.” Waititi also said that the script for Thor 4 is “so insane” and “also very romantic.” Expanding a little bit more on the romantic part, he said, “I want to make something that I’ve never done or never cared for. I would like to attack something like that.”

Thor: Love and Thunder

Insane and romantic? I expect nothing less from Taika Waititi. The film will also see the return of Natalie Portman’s Jane to the fold. Portman, despite being a tremendous performer in general, failed to leave a mark in the first two Thor movies as she was given paper-thin material to work with. But now, it’s been all but confirmed that she will be returning as a superhero character as well, The Mighty Thor. It was also confirmed a few months ago that Christian Bale will be playing the villain in the film.

Thor: Love and Thunder is currently scheduled for a March 2022 release.
